Indigenous prisoner dies in custody at Sydney's Long Bay jail

A 26-year-old Indigenous man has died in custody at Sydney's Long Bay prison, the New South Wales Department of Corrective Services has confirmed.

David Dungay, from Kempsey on the NSW mid-north coast, died on December 29 while receiving medical treatment in the prison's hospital.

The ABC understands he had been restrained by a number of guards around the time of his death.
